ThÃch Quảng Ãức

ThÃch Quảng Ãức (help·info) (born Lâm Văn Tức in 1897 – June 11, 1963) was a Vietnamese Buddhist monk who burned himself to death at a busy Saigon intersection on June 11, 1963. ThÃch Quảng Ãức was protesting the persecution of Buddhism by South Vietnam’s Ngô Äình Diệm administration.
Some of you might recognise the burning man, ThÃch Quảng Ãức, some of you might not. Some part of the ’some of you’ who does recognise the photograph of ThÃch Quảng Ãức might not know why you recognise it. My guess is that you recognise the photograph because it was used on the cover of Rage Against the Machine self titled album released 1993.
